Self-Reflective Questions During an Alcohol Break
To drink or not to drink? That was the question, plus a bunch of deeper ones…
I have a controversial opinion on drinking because I decided to give moderation a try after over two years of no booze. Initially I had mixed feelings about quitting as the word “Alcoholic” did not resonate with me.
Alcohol was most definitely interfering with my life in a negative way, but when I admitted there was an issue I stopped and sought relatable supports for my journey. At the two year mark I wondered if my relationship with alcohol had changed and took a new direction in exploring.
That said, this is not the post to validate your questioning mind of “should I drink again?” When there is little confidence in yourself to moderate or think you may be in denial, taking a sip of alcohol is likely not the best plan.
The amount of personal development and mentality shifts experienced have brought me to a point where I am doubtful of a binge drink episode. Conversations, planning and reflection were massive pieces of my time away from booze, so it was not a lightly taken decision.
