There was a recent article that came out on the local news titled Bad behaviour on the rise- Rise in belligerent behaviour linked to pandemic stress, fatigue. One clinical psychologist in the article notes that pandemics can bring out extremes in people and that it is related to chronic stress and fatigue.

I’m not sure about anyone else, but I’ve definitely noticed changes in people’s ability to cope. Not to generalize, but many people are currently at their maximum levels of stress. I agree that the stress related to this pandemic has been taking a toll on everyone’s mental health more than we are talking publicly about.

Recently there was a restaurant party at a nearby ski resort when indoor dining was cancelled… again. People reacted with anger about the shindig and understandably so. On the other hand, I was just glad this group let off steam in a fun way and did not suicide or harm someone in their anger instead.

(I’m not condoning anyone do anything outside of restrictions, but I recognize we are human and I’m glad you are alive.)

This is a fear I live with every day. People being at the end of their rope and harm themselves or lose their cool and harm someone else. We should never verbally or physically assault other people, but it is happening more and more.
